 Located at 146A Madison Rd. (Rt. 15) in Orange, our Main Library offers a variety of programs and services to residents of Orange County, all adjoining counties and cardholders of the Central Rappahannock Regional Library. Books, videos, magazines, DVDs, CD`s, books-on-CD, Blu-Rays and CD-ROM software are all available for free checkout to the public. Our location has a strong collection in large print books, gardening, cooking and hobbies. Our library is just over 10,000 square feet and contains over 75,000 items in its collections. We add, on average, over 300 new items each month.

 Children's Programs

From September through May, our library offers a program for toddlers aged 18 months up to 3 years on Wednesdays at 9:45 a.m. We also offer a program for preschoolers aged 3 to 6 on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. No advance registration is required for the storytime programs.

During our 6 week Summer Reading Program we offer a toddler time program on Wednesdays at 9:45 a.m., a preschool program on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and a school age program Wednesdays at 3:00 p.m. which is held at Orange Elementary School. The Summer programs feature a variety of professional performers.

We also offer summer programs for tweens and teens including a craft on Thursdays at 1:00 p.m.; a movie on Thursdays at 3:00 p.m. and a Game Day on Fridays from 2:00-4:00 p.m. with pizza and games such as dance dance revolution, guitar hero, jenga, apples to apples and more.

Meeting Room

Our meeting room has a capacity of 55 people and is available to the public free of charge on a first come, first served basis. Reservations may be made up to 12 months in advance. For-profit and commercial use is prohibited. No fees other than for the cost of instructional materials may be charged. Our meeting room is shared with the Orange County Extension Office and the library only has access from 9:30-5:00 Monday-Friday. Persons wishing to use the meeting room in the evening or on weekends should phone the Extension office at 540)672-1361. Our meeting room is equipped with a full kitchen. A TV, VCR and overhead projector are also available for use at your meeting if you notify our staff in advance.  See our meeting room policy for more information

Staff

Our library has a staff of 3 full-time and 14 part-time employees. Two of our staff members are responsible for cataloging all of our new materials for the entire library system by adding them into our catalog database. All of the staff report to the Library Director, Katie Hill. Mrs. Hill reports to the Orange County Library Board of Trustees.
